Eye of Re Gemstone Pendant
Originally the sun and moon were regarded as the Eyes of Horus, later in ancient Egyptian history this changed - the right eye (shown) became regarded as the Solar eye or the Eye of Re, Horus' father, and considered a rather potent symbol for power. (The left eye continued to be known as the Eye of Horus, the Lunar Eye and represents protection.) These Eyes of Re are crafted from sterling silver and set with a genuine gemstone of (from left to right) Smoky Quartz, Iolite and Citrine. The Scarab beetle, a symbol of the creation of life and a talisman for protection, was very popular in ancient Egyptian culture. These Scarab beetles are hand-carved from assorted gemstones and measure approx. 7/8" across and 1 1/8" long. Each beetle has a hole drilled from side to side for threading. (Note: Satin cord sold on Necklace Chain page may fit through most, but not all scarabs.) Since each scarab is hand made, size, shape and stone will vary. Sold individually.
